According to the numbers, the Shovel Lake wildfire has seen massive expansion over the past couple of days, but Chief Fire Information Officer Kevin Skrepnek wants to clear up the numbers.
According to Skrepnek, current estimates of 79 thousand hectares have more to do with better mapping of the fire than actual growth.
Better conditions today are allowing crews to perform backburning to improve fire guards on the north side of Fraser Lake, and build up guards on the East side of the fire and toward Fort St James.
