Chief Fire Information Officer Kevin Skrepnek spoke today on the difficulties related to managing wildfires in northern BC.
According to Skrepnek, the proximity of recent fires to key infrastructure makes managing the blazes far more difficult for crews.
Under the recently declared state of emergency, Skrepnek says it will be easier to bring in the resources needed.
Skrepnek says crews will continue to prioritize fires in the area in order to protect essential power-generating infrastructure.
