A BC Supreme Court decision to allow a mining exploration permit granted to Taseko Mines Limited has the Ts^ilhqot’in Nation disappointed and concerned for their land.
According to Tribal Chair Chief Joe Alphonse, the permit, which would allow drilling across 367 drilling test pits, makes no sense.
The Federal government has already rejected the proposed project twice.
Chief Alphonse went on to speak of the cultural significance of the land.
Alphonse says the decision by the BC government sets reconciliation efforts back decades.
