After a short struggle to open up the program, the provincial government’s Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative has taken off.
Now with nearly 3 thousand child care providers across the province applying, and 87 percent of those being approved, initial doubts have all but disappeared.
It is estimated that the program has saved BC parents approximately 35 million dollars combined so far.
The Initiative reduces child care fees to a universal number to allow parents to find less expensive child care options.
The milestone represents great news for the Ministry of Children and Family Development as they prepare for the launch of their second initiative, the Affordable Child Care Benefit, on September 1st.
