The month of May puts the spotlight on the childcare industry in the province.
With that comes updates on how the Child Care Fee Reduction initiative fared in its first month of action.
Deemed wildly successful by the provincial government, April saw over 39 of 49 thousand elibigble childcare facilities in the province sign up for the program.
Of those 39 thousand, more than 25 thousand have already been approved.
They estimate that, through the lowering of childcare fees and incentives to childcare providers, the initiative has already saved parents more than 2.2 million dollars.
The government also announced a 237 million dollar investment in new childcare spaces in the province over the next three years.
Officials from the Ministry of Family Development will be touring the province at the end of the month to honour the theme.
