A spirit bear had a close call and escaped serious injury after she was hit by a vehicle.
The rare white-coated kermode bear was hit on Highway 37 yesterday, near Kitwanga.
Conservation Officer Flint Knibbs was sent out to assess the animal’s condition after the accident was reported to a tipline.
He says the initial report they received had them preparing for the worst.
Knibbs says the bear and her cubs appeared fine, foraging along the side of the highway.
The Conservation Officer Service has posted video on its Facebook page showing the mother, with no visible injuries, alongside the highway with her two black cubs.
The video can be seen here.
