CNC gets retraining money to help Endako mine workers

The BC government has announced funding to help workers hit by layoffs at the Endako mine near Fraser Lake.

The advanced education ministry is providing $150,000 to the College of New Caledonia to support training initiatives.

CNC will provide the majority of training at the Fraser Lake Adult Learning Centre with some courses provided in Burns Lake or Vanderhoof.

A Community Transition Team is working with CNC to help identify the types of training that will provide the best chance at future job prospects.

Thompson Creek Metals announced in December that is was temporarily suspending operations at the mine due to low Molybdenum prices.
