A Northern B.C. college says the tragic death of one of its students was the spark for a new road safety campaign.
The College of New Caledonia premiered three road safety videos at its Prince George campus this week which feature CNC international students.
The joint education campaign from ICBC, RCMP, and the college focuses on three aspects of road safety: distracted driving, pedestrian safety and speeding.
“It is important to learn road safety rules anytime you’re in a new country,” says Barbra Old, Director of International Education in a news release. “Road safety has always been a part of international orientation but have decided to make it the focus of an educational campaign this year.”
The campaign comes after the death of Sandeep Kaur, an international student at CNC, who was struck and killed by a vehicle near the Prince George campus in June.
A memorial bench will also been installed in her memory.
