The College of New Caledonia has postponed the start of its practical nursing program in Burns Lake.
In a news release, CNC says the PN program, which was to begin in January at the Lakes District Campus, will now begin in September.
The college says it’s taking steps to make sure the quality of the Lakes District Practical Nursing program meets provincial educational standards before sending it to the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC for review and approval.
“CNC is committed to ensuring it offers the highest standard of education for our PN students in Burns Lake,” said Glenda Vardy Dell, Dean of the School of Health Sciences at CNC. “This delay will ensure that the quality of programming in Burns Lake is the same for students at all CNC campuses.”
The delay may also mean the college gets enough students to run the program in Burns Lake.
As of November 20th, CNC says it only had two students with the necessary prerequisites needed to enter the program, but it says there are seven other prospective students working their way through the necessary upgrading.
