The College of New Caledonia says its 2018/2019 budget will help further Indigenize education and support Aboriginal learners.
CNC says part of that investment will come in the form of a new Aboriginal Student Recruiter position who wil build relationships with First Nations communities and prospective students.
The college’s base funding will also see the addition of two part-time Access instructor positions offering more drop-in tutoring opportunties for Indigenous learners.
CNC Director of Aboriginal Education Marlene Erickson says the investments will be particularly beneficial, as CNC campuses have a significant percentage of Aboriginal students.
The college board says 2018/2019 budget marks the third year of financial growth at CNC, with an increase of more than $5 million.
CNC also plans to put some of that budget toward a Career and Co-op Student Support project.
