The Joint Rescue Co-Ordination Centre in Victoria is reporting a disabled cargo vessel 50 nautical miles off the west coast of Haida Gwaii.

In a recorded message, the rescue centre says the Canadian Coast Guard ship Gordon Reid is en-route to provide assistance if needed.

Other media reports state the cargo vessel, from Alaska, isn’t carrying any dangerous goods and isn’t expected to hit land.

The Coast Guard ship along with a tug should reach the stricken vessel early tomorrow morning.
