Coastal First Nations sign LNG benefits agreement with province

BC has signed another LNG benefits agreement, this time with a group of First Nations along the coast.

The latest agreement is with the Wuikinuxv, Heiltsuk, Kitasoo/Xaixais, Gitga’at, and Metlakatla First Nations, and will deliver $1.5 million in annual funding for three years.

More money will become available depending on how many LNG projects give the final go-ahead.

In a release, the province says the Coastal First Nations LNG Benefits Agreement will provide certainty to LNG proponents in their final investment decision making process.

A copy of the agreement can be found here.
