Conflict in drug trade leads to home invasion and shooting in Prince George

Prince George RCMP are investigating a shooting that took place early this morning.

Police responded to a report of a shooting at 12:20am at a residence on Gould Crescent, off Ospika Boulevard.

Five people were detained by police, and one person was taken to hospital with a non-life threatening injury not due to gunshots.

In a written statement, Corporal Craig Douglass says they believe this was a home invasion, with some of the perpetrators fleeing before police arrived.

Corporal Douglass says the police are concerned at the recent number of criminal incidents in the community, but says those targeted are in the drug trade, and the incidents are possibly related to conflicts within that trade.

He stresses Prince George remains safe for those not involved in illegal activities, and that police will be deploying all available assets to target those involved.

Prince George RCMP ask anyone with information in regards to the shooting to call them or Crime Stoppers.
