The Congress of Aboriginal Peoples National Chief, Betty Ann Lavallée, says yesterday’s federal budget is a disappointment.
She says while there’s some funding for Aboriginal people, there’s very little available.
Adding that there’s nothing for those who live off-reserve.
She says even though more than 1 million of 1.4 million people who identify as Aboriginal live away from reserves, program funding for that group amounts $70 per person each year for the next five years.
The congress represents the interests of off-reserve status and non-status Indians, Métis and Southern Inuit Aboriginal Peoples.
