Highway 16 has a new eastbound passing lane near Vanderhoof.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure announced today that the Degal passing lane will improve traffic flow and safety.

John Rustad, the Minister of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation, is the MLA for the area and says the passing lane will reduce bottlenecks and delays.

The 1.5km lane is about 28km east of Vanderhoof and was constructed at a cost of $5.35-million.
