Convicted murderer Christopher Maurice Alexander has been granted extended overnight leave privileges to attend an Aboriginal ceremony from August 9 to August 20.
Since receiving day parole earlier this year, the board’s written decision notes Alexander has met all conditions, and has secured full-time employment without any concerns over his behavior.
The Parole Board of Canada notes Alexander’s continued positive progress during his day parole, the continued rehabilitative and reintegration potential of attending this event, and the fact the event is closely monitored.
In December 1998, Alexander, then 17 years old, murdered Linda LaFranc in Terrace.
He was convicted of second degree murder in 2002 and given a life sentence.
