Terrace RCMP are asking drivers to slow down and give themselves plenty of time to reach their destination.
Constable Angela Rabut says the snow and wind has reduced visibility and has made for winter driving conditions in the region.
Rabut says police and emergency crews responded to a loaded lumber truck that hit the ditch Monday morning east of Terrace.
RCMP say the rig left the road in slippery conditions at the 200 km mark of Highway 16 and ended up on its side in the ditch.
While the driver didn’t suffer serious injuries, Rabut says he was trapped in the cab of the truck and a volunteer fire fighter had to cut the steering column.
An ambulance doing a patient transfer was the next vehicle at the scene and was able to take the driver to Mills Memorial Hospital in Terrace.
