RCMP say a nine year-old boy and his father were killed in a crash Monday afternoon north of Williams Lake.
Investigators say the two were in a north-bound SUV along with three other family members when their vehicle was hit head-on by a south-bound pickup that crossed the centre line about 8 kilometres north of Wildwood.
The pickup also sideswiped a another truck before coming to rest.
The three other people in the SUV, an adult and two children were taken to hospital.
The driver of the south-bound pickup had to be extricated by emergency crews before he was transported to hospital, while the driver of the second third vehicle received minor injuries.
Cariboo Chilcotin Regional Traffic Services is investigating along with the North District Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service, the BC Coroners’ Service, and Work Safe BC.
The investigation is in its early stages, but RCMP say impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash
