Cubs spared after bear attack

The Northern Lights Wildlife Shelter near Smithers will be home to a pair of orphaned bear cubs.

The cubs were tranquilized by the Conservation Officer Service in Prince George after a man was attacked by their mother Tuesday.

RCMP initially said both the sow and one cub were destroyed, but the environment ministry says that’s not the case.

The 46-year-old man is recovering from minor injuries.
