Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Nathan Cullen is urging the federal government to engage with Wet’suwet’en members who are opposed to pipelines.
Cullen says he traveled toward the Gidimt’en checkpoint Monday to support continued dialogue between RCMP who have been sent to enforce an injunction and Wet’suwet’en members refusing access to claimed territory.
RCMP have set up a checkpoint preventing the public, media, and others from accessing both Unistot’en and Gidimt’en camps.
Cullen says he was able to secure passage of a number of Wet’suwet’en chiefs through the RCMP blockade to the Gidimt’en camp.
The MP is calling on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to show his commitment to “real and meaningful reconciliation”.
