Damien Taylor testifies in his defence in murder trial of CJ Fowler

The 24-year-old man accused of the murder of his 16-year-old girlfriend has testified in his own defence at his second degree murder trial in Kamloops.

Damien Taylor has testified he and girlfriend CJ Fowler travelled from Terrace to Kamloops in December 2012 to sell drugs and were using crystal meth and cocaine during the trip and while they were staying in Kamloops.

Fowler was treated in hospital for chest pains related to the drug use and that’s where she learned she was pregnant, but Taylor told the court he and Fowler were arguing loudly about food, not her pregnancy, as they left the hospital.

Taylor says he was in a drugged stupor as he left the hospital and panicked and fled town when he woke and found her beaten body beside him, but he also says he doesn’t recall changing clothes or tying a bandana over a bloody sock before boarding a bus to Prince George.
