Business owners in Dawson Creek held an emergency meeting over the weekend to address a recent spike in commercial break-ins.
Since January 15th, the city has tallied 47 reports of commercial theft, tripling the 15 over the same time period last year.
As a result, local chamber of commerce members gathered together this weekend to brainstorm ways to combat the thefts.
According to local RCMP, the thefts have largely followed the same pattern of quick “smash-and-grabs”, likely undertaken by the same small group.
No arrests have been made in relation to the thefts as of yet.
