It will be at least another month before parents know the fate of the Coast Mountains School District’s French Immersion program.
During a packed meeting, the school board decided to do further research before making a decision.
The current recommendations are to have class minimums, and if there aren’t enough students, courses will then be taken online.
Andrea Vickers is the treasurer of the Hazelton Chapter for Canadian Partents for French.
She says it’s a disappointing decision from the board, considering they’ve already done so much research.
Francophone Association of North Western BC’s Patrick Witwicky feels the French Immersion program isn’t getting enough recognition.
The school board staff will present their findings at the next board meeting on February 22nd in Hazelton.
