Destination BC is set to provide 1 million dollars in funding to Indigenous Tourism following a record setting year.
In 2017, Indigenous tourism in the province hit a record high 705 million dollars in gross revenue across more than 400 businesses.
Those same business, along with new additions, are expected to draw more than 7.2 million tourists over the next two years.
Destination BC will be supplying the fresh funding directly to the Indigenous Tourism Association of BC
The boom goes hand-in-hand with an overall spike in tourism in the province, which saw a 5.7 percent rise in international visitors this year, the seventh year in a row that number has climbed.
Overall, tourism generates more than 17 billion dollars annually in BC.
