District looking for input on Thornhill governing changes

District looking for input on Thornhill governing changes

The Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine are looking to guage public opinion on a change of Thornhill’s governing system.

Thornhill is officially an unincorporated community within Electoral Area E of the District.

Over the next few weeks, a team will be gathering information regarding public opinion on whether or not to restructure their governance.

Options include: standalone incorporation, amlgamation with the City of Terrace, or remaining an Electoral Area.

This will be the first reexamination of the position since a 1997 referenfum.

Public consultations will be held at the Thornhill Community Centre on June 26th at 7 pm, and July 14th at 2 pm, with open door discussions taking place before each event.
