The District of Kitimat has issued a water advisory in an effort to conserve water during the dry weather.
According to the District, the daily water consumption rate is usually around 6.4 million litres per day, but that number spiked to 10.5 million in July.
Because of this, the District says that if a serious fire was to present itself, they would need to draw on reserve water and eventually draw straight from the river, something they desperately want to avoid.
To help prevent this and combat high usage, the District is asking residents with odd numbered houses to water and wash on odd numbered days, and vice versa for even units.
