Kitimat Mayor Phil Germuth says the District has proposed to the union that the months long labour dispute be sent to binding arbitration.
In a release sent out today, the mayor outlined the major issues, countering union arguments about pay, job security, health and safety, and harassment and working conditions.
Mayor Germuth says the ultimate issue is about who will be running the District, and he says he believes the District has offered fair terms and conditions, without seeking any concessions.
Martin McIlwrath, representative for Unifor Local 2300, declined to comment at this time.
