A provincially funded domestic violence unit has opened in Prince George.
The unit includes a number of experts and specialists to that will take on high-risk cases.
Mike Morris, the province’s Solicitor General, and Public Safety Minister says not only will families be protected from physical and psychological violence, but offenders will be held accountable.
Kathi Heim of the Elizabeth Fry Society says this unit will provide tangible benefits to victims.
The integrated DVU unit includes an RCMP officer dedicated to domestic violence cases, a community-based victim service worker, and a provincial child protection worker.
This is the ninth DVU in the province, and is being funded by civil forfeiture proceeds.
