11 First Nations communities will be teaming up with Emergency Management BC to develop better wildfire protection for the province.
As the result of a service agreement between EMBC and Indigenous Services Canada, the project will see training shared between the two groups which will focus on location relevant emergency management.
The provincial government hopes that the training will allow First Nations to respond quickly and effectively to hazards such as wildfires in the future.
The project is part of the government’s Indigenous priorities and reconciliation investment.
