With evacuation orders across the province effecting nearly 5 thousand people and alerts covering another 22 thousand, reception centres are becoming crowded.
As a result, Executive Director of Emergency Management BC Chris Duffy, took to the podium today to urge those not currently under evacuation orders to head home.
Duffy’s call goes out to both those relieved of evacuation orders and those under current alerts.
On the flipside however, Duffy also addressed those who do find themselves under orders and are refusing to leave.
Duffy echoed statements made by the BC Wildfire Service yesterday that staying behind during an order can be dangerous for both individuals and crews fighting the fires.
