BC’s Environmental Enforcement Summaries for the third and fourth quarters of 2017 have been released.
Nearly 16 hundred violation tickets, 28 orders, and 46 court convictions lead to over 715 thousand dollars in penalties.
That brings the total to more than 15 million dollars in non-compliance penalties since 2006.
Major violations these quarters were hunting and fishing without licenses, burning out of season, non-compliance with environmental legislation, and introducing excess waste to the environment.
Over 134 thousand dollars in fines also went out to companies violating Wildfire related guidelines.
