Evacuation alert near Shovel Lake wildfire partially rescinded

An evacuation alert around the Shovel Lake wildfire has been partially rescinded.

The area north of Fraser Lake and Highway 16 , east of Sheraton FSR to east of Fort Fraser no longer finds themselves under evacuation alert.

Other sections of the evacuation zone still find themselves under both orders and alerts.

Residents of the lifted area should return home as soon as possible to clear space at reception centres for other evacuees.

There is still wildfire activity in the area and returning residents should exercise caution.

Visit the District’s website at this link for detailed maps of all evacuation zones.
