The RCMP are allowing people back into their homes at approximately 6:30pm following an incident on Mountainview Avenue in Thornhill.

Police were called to the area around 10am Wednesday and say they will be updating the situation Thursday.

A man who lives on Mountainview tells us what he saw when he was trying to return home earlier today.

School District 82 Superintendent Katherine McIntosh says students attending Thornhill Elementary and Primary Schools that lived in the evacuated zone were being kept until a parent or guardian picked them up.

McIntosh says they have been in close contact with the police and say there’s no immediate threat or danger to the school.

Stay with CFNR as we’ll bring you the latest updates.
