Evacuees swell to 1300 in Prince George

The number of wildfire evacuees arriving in Prince George continues to grow.

The city’s Emergency Operations Centre was activated just over a week ago.

Officials now say about 1300 evacuees have made their way to Prince George.

The city say it’s working with other communities in the region, including Williams Lake, Quesnel, and Fort St. John to identify available rooms in motels and hotels.

Officials say evacuees requiring lodging can register in Prince George, but they note the availability is fluctuating daily.

The City of Prince George has launched a web page to provide information for evacuees and residents at www.princegeorge.ca/wildfireevacuation.
