This is a small country style fall fair with an average attendance of 1200 people for this one day, non-alcohol, “Family Event”. There will be vendors, games, food, fun and music for everyone. The Tlell Farmers Market will be set up the day of the Tlell Fall Fair. The fair date is Aug.2, 2015
One of the most requested local bands, Out of the Blue, will be headlining the event. This year’s children’s entertainment will be The Kerplunks: they’re three time JUNO Award nominees for Children’s Album of the Year!
This is a venue for everyone to share their knowledge of gardening, crafts and livestock. Anyone can show off their livestock, poultry, crafts, baking, needlework and many other exhibits through provincially recognized Judging standards. Anyone and everyone is welcome at the Tlell Fall Fair.
2015’s theme is: Grown Locally, Rain or Shine.
The Tlell Fall Fair is always on the Sunday before BC Day. Their goal is to celebrate and educate everyone about agriculture on Haida Gwaii.
The Fair has been ongoing since about 1912. Originally located in Lawnhill and later in the year it had great success as it’s members attended other regional fairs and brought home a number of awards. With a number of wars taking place between 1914 and 1945 the fair was almost forgotten. In 1982 the fair was rejuvenated and moved to Tlell on an earlier date, and we have been here ever since.
