OPENING RECEPTION: FRIDAY FEBRUARY 2, 7-9PM
The Found Objects show is a non-juried community show.
‘Found Object’ – sometimes referred to as objet trouvé – describes art created from undisguised, but often modified, objects that are not normally considered materials from which art is made, often because they already have a non-art function. A found object can be natural or man-made, or a fragment of an object, that is found (or sometimes bought) and kept because of some intrinsic interest the artist sees in it. It may be treated as a work of art in itself, as well as provide inspiration for the artist. Found objects may be modified by the artist and presented as art, either more or less intact, or as part of an assemblage (art that is made by assembling disparate elements).
