Transport Canada has announced plans to meet and work with First Nations in the area to help facilitate the sale of a Crown Corporation.

Announced today in the spirit of reconciliation, the Federal Government plans to meet with Indigenous groups in and around Prince Rupert to ensure an open, fair, and competitive sale of Ridley Terminals Inc.

Ridley Terminals Inc operates off of Ridley Island, where it oversees the shipment of commodities on to shipping vessels via rail cars.

Consultations will be held by the Canadian Development Investment Corporation and are planned to take place ahead of a Fall divestiture.

The sale is expected to help support and create sustainable middle-class jobs.
