BC RCMP are remaining tight lipped as concerns emerge over the federal government’s choice in drug screening equipment.
At least two police departments in BC have already rejected the federally approved Drager DrugTest5000 as legalization day approaches.
Experts have bashed the machine for its inability to perform in colder temperatures after multiple false negatives reported during tests in Norway.
The federal government has stated that, while they will make the Drager machine available to all police departments, the decision to use it is up to them.
The RCMP say they will opt instead for a limited roll-out of drug screening equipment in consultation with municipal partners.
