Terrace’s top cop says fentanyl and alcohol abuse remains concerns as the RCMP highlighted their priorities to council.
Inspector Syd Lecky says the cheapness and how fentanyl is sold makes it hard for police to stop the spread of it.
Inspector Lecky feels people with a drug or drinking addiction don’t belong behind bars and wants to continue to work with community partners to try and help with their addiction.
It was also noted the relationship with both Kitselas and Kitsumkalum First Nations remain positive and he says it’s thanks to the leaders in the community for making it that way.
The RCMP also said the crime numbers remain fairly consistent with the other years. Violent crimes were down in 2016.
