Fire at the New Moon in Prince Rupert

The New Moon restaurant in Prince Rupert had a fire just after midnight on Sunday.

The Prince Rupert Fire Department says the call came in about 12:30am of flames in the upper floor.

Prince Rupert Fire Chief Dave McKenzie says the building will need major repairs and the apartments on the upper floor will never be habitable again.

He says it appears the fire started on the second floor.

It took firefighters until 4am  to put the flames out.

No injuries were reported, and everyone in the buildings were accounted for.

McKenzie says its too early to determine the cause, though the RCMP is investigating.
