Fire guts downtown Terrace building

The investigation is now underway after a fire gutted a building in downtown Terrace.

Crews got the call around 5:30 a.m. of a fire at Lakelse and Kalum Avenue.

Firefighters arrived to find North Coast Anglers engulfed.

About 20 firefighters from Terrace and Thornhill battled the blaze.

Terrace Fire Department deputy chief Dave Jephson says investigators are looking for answers.

While the area has been reopened to traffic, the intersection of Kalum and Lakelse will be a four-way stop because the traffic signals were damaged.

Investigators also believe an alley and vacant lot prevented the fire from spreading.

The building will be torn down when the investigation is complete.

No injuries were reported.
