A northern BC First Nations plant nursery is getting some provincial funding to become a little greener.
Twin Sisters Native Plant Nursery in Moberly Lake will receive $150,000 from the BC First Nations Clean Energy Business Fund to convert its propane heating system to biomass.
The project, between the Saulteau and West Moberly First Nations, will initially heat two existing greenhouses and will be capable of supporting two more if built.
While the biomass system will still emit carbon through wood-burning, the province says the emissions will be much lower than propane.
The nursery grows plants used in site reclamation by the mining and oil and gas sectors in Northern BC.
