Flood advisory upgraded for Bulkley River

The B.C. River Forecast Centre has upgraded the High Streamflow Advisory for the Bulkley River back to a Flood Watch.

Flow levels receded earlier this week due to cooler weather and diminishing snow packs, but continued warm weather and the potential for localized heavy rain in the Bulkey basin indicate flow levels are likely to increase this weekend.

The Nechako River at Vanderhoof and the Nautley River near Fort Fraser are still under a Flood Watch Advisory, with water flows expected to rise into next week as warmer than usual weather persists.

Residents are reminded to stay clear of streams during the spring runoff period due to highly saturated and unstable riverbank conditions and swiftly flowing water.
