Flood levels dropping, but expected to rise again in Cariboo

Though officials say flood water levels have begun to subside in the Nazko Valley, those evacuated are still being kept away from their homes.

The Cariboo Regional District evacuated residents of 120 properties on Sunday and Monday due to the early and immense spring melt.

The levels have begun to drop today, but the BC River Forecast Centre expects that to be temporary, predicting the water levels to rise again over the weekend as temperatures begin to spike.

When conditions become safe, the District plans to get people back to their homes as soon as possible.
