BC’s independent forestry watchdog will be auditing a community forest near Mackenzie.
The Forest Practices Board will examine the McLeod Lake Mackenzie Community Forest for planning, harvesting, replanting, and roads and bridges under the Forest and Range Practices Act and Wildfire Act.
The forest is a joint partnership between the District of Mackenzie and the McLeod Lake Band which allows up to 30,000 cubic metres of timber to be harvested per year.
The audit is scheduled to begin September 10th.
