The Mounties always get their man, as the saying goes, and in this case it was a 40 year hunt.
In 1974, 32 year old Raymond Douglas MacLeod was arrested in Prince George for an assault and sexual assault on a young girl.
He was found not guilty, but Crown Counsel appealed and he was served with documents ordering him to appear in court in 1980.
He skipped town and disappeared.
That is until the Prince George RCMP contacted Interpol and MacLeod was found living in California.
Working together with US authorities, the now 72 year old MacLeod has been deported from the US.
He’s now back in Prince George to face charges of rape, indecent assault on a female, assault causing bodily harm, and obstruction of justice.
