As shortages continue to pose a looming threat to natural gas customers in BC, FortisBC has introduced a new way for concerned customers to stay up to date.
FortisBC has been dealing with shortages since October due to an unexpected rupture of Enbridge’s pipeline near Shelley.
Late last month, the National Energy Board gave Enbridge approval to increase their maximum operating pressure up to 85 percent of normal operating capacity.
Combined with Fortis’ efforts to purchase replacement gas on the open market, this will allow them to inch closer to normal supply levels.
But, with winter looming, the company is still concerned over their ability to meet consumer demand.
In order to quell concerns and keep customers in the loop, Fortis has released a 5 day forcasting chart on their website which will allow customers to get a better picture of the situation.
