RCMP say foul play is not suspected in a fatal Prince Rupert fire.
The Prince Rupert Fire Department and police were called to a house fire in the 1300 block of Sloan Avenue Monday at about 1:45.
The left hand side of the residence was fully engulfed when RCMP got to the scene. Firefighters found a 77 year-old woman in the home who did not survive.
“A tragic death such as this affects the entire community and our thoughts are with the family”, says Staff Sergeant Jagdev Uppal, Operations NCO at the Prince Rupert Detachment.
The Prince Rupert RCMP continues to work with the B.C. Coroner Service as the investigation continues.
A fundraising campaign has been launched to help support family affected by the fire.
