Although it is a hard time for evacuees, the city of Prince George is looking to host some events this weekend to get people’s minds off of their tragedy.
There will be a free breakfast tomorrow at the College of New Caledonia’s evacuation centre.
More fundraising will also be going on to help those displaced. Wilson Square Farmer’s market at the Native Friendship Centre will hold a fundraiser.
There will be grilled salmon and scrambled egg breakfast baguettes available and all donations will go to the fire-relief fund.
Other vendors will be doing a number of fundraisers throughout the day and the market will be giving away free hot dogs to kids under 10.
The Prince George Hospice Society is hosting an Evacuees Free Fun Day at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park starting at 4 and Northern Spirit Transportation will be providing free bus rides from CNC to the park and back.
Sunday is Summerfest in front of city hall, with live music, train rides and lots of free activities.
BC transit is waving fares to all people who have a red wristband and have registered at CNC.
