RCMP say a man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant was recently spotted near Quesnel.
Police say a Bouchie Lake resident was checking on his father’s abandoned property Wednesday morning when he came across a man squatting in the home.
When asked to leave, the man did so without any issues.
RCMP later confirmed that the man was 46 year-old Gerald McLean who failed to return to his Vancouver halfway house and is wanted for violating his parole conditions.
Mounties called in police dogs from Prince George and Williams Lake as well as a helicopter from Kamloops to search the area, but could not pickup up a track.
McLean, known to be an experienced outdoorsman, was last seen walking into the bush in the Paley Road area.
He was wearing a camouflage shirt and pants, a green cap, and was carrying a green packsack. Investigators say he has shaved off his beard and may have shaved his head, although that has not been confirmed.
RCMP are asking Quesnel residents to remain vigilant and report any possible sightings of Gerald McLean.
